SIG SAUER WEEK - P226 X-FIVE ALLROUND
We are back to a pistol for the fifth offer in our ‘SIG Sauer Week’ series, and what a magnificent one it is! We are proud to present you with a stainless-steel SIG P226 X-FIVE ALLROUND in .40S&W made by Sig Sauer GmbH in its Eckernförde factory, Germany. Read on for another LSB journey in firearms history…
Previous posts already touched on the history of the standard P226 pistol, which made its debut in the 1983 and achieved much success for the German firm. This tried and tested service pistol featured a locked breech design that was pioneered by SIG Sauer.
The P226 designed spawned several upgraded models intended for the sport shooting market, all of which featured even higher standards of workmanship, finish and accuracy, some as part of SIG Sauer’s ‘Mastershop’ line.
The legendary X-FIVE series is a competition only variant of the P226 with a 127 mm (5”) slide and barrel, beavertail grip and an adjustable rear target sight. The ALLROUND version is intended as a competition pistol that delivers great results for IPSC, bullseye and other centrefire competitive shooting.
The SIG P226 X-FIVE ALLROUND is hand-fitted and assembled in Germany, and its resulting accuracy rivals that of another SIG legend, the SIG P210. It has been manufactured in 9x19mm or .40 S&W. The pistol features a polished feed ramp to guarantee zero failures when loading the firearm, an extra thick 5” barrel and two tone black/grey grips. A fully adjustable rear sight couples with a dovetailed front sight for a clean target alignment. The dust cover features a Picatinny rail, allowing for the use of accessories. The slide and frame are milled out of solid blocks of stainless steel. The quality build of this pistol has to be seen to be appreciated.
